If you need a large, strong truck with durability and power, this Ram Diesel truck is tough to beat. Big power is found in a big truck, when that truck is the Ram 2500 HD Crew Cab, powered by a Cummins Diesel Engine.

This Ram truck uses the 6.7-liter Cummins diesel turbocharged straight-6 paired with the Cummins 6-speed automatic transmission.

If you choose the Ram 3500, the truck comes standard with a Cummins 850-pound-feet of torque. For the diesel enthusiasts, the Ram 2500 will still offer their own high-output Cummins engine. It is the turbocharged, 6.7-liter V6 diesel offering 850 pound-feet of torque and 370 horsepower.

Both engines are backed up with six-speed automatics, while diesel competitors in the Ram 2500 and 3500 are both equipped with more up-to-date 10-speeds. There is the standard 6.4-liter gas-powered V8 that has 429 pound-feet of torque and 410 horsepower. The engine also produces 429 lb-ft of torque, allowing the Ram 2500 to tow up to 17,540 pounds.

With the high-output version making 400 horsepower and 1075 lb.-ft. of torque, the Ram 2500 and 3500 3500 has towing capability of 37,090 pounds, with maximum payload capacity of 7,680 pounds.

Prodigious crane capability With a Ram 3500, you can tow up to 18,210 pounds (8,260 kg) with 6.4L HEMI(r) V8 or you can have best-in-class diesel towing, with a capacity up to 37,090 pounds (16,824 kg) available when equipped with the high-output Cummins(r) high-output turbodiesel.

As of this writing, the Ram 3500 with Cummins 6.7L High Output Turbo Diesel has the highest torque rating of any HD truck on the market, with a 1,075-lb.

The Ram 2500 2022 also comes equipped with the 6.7-liter Cummins(r) Turbo Diesel Inline-6, which produces 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. The RAM 2500 has never met a challenge that it could not handle, and the top towing capacity is 20,000 pounds if you pair the 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel option.

The 2022 Ram 2500s engine output is sent to the wheels using a capable eight-speed 75-hp seven-speed automatic transmission.
Most Ram HD family buyers are willing to pay the premium for a diesel, but the standard 6.4-liter gasoline engine is more than competent, even in 3500 form. If you are looking for savings and a few extra gears in the gearbox, a Ford Super Duty model, or the Ram 2500 with a gasoline engine, may be a better fit.

Each model comes equipped with the Heavy Duty 6.4L V8 HEMI engine, which produces 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, and is equipped with Multi Displacement System (MDS).
