Sierra 1500 AT4X: What Are Most Special Things of GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X ?
Now that the truck has begun making its way out to the wild, and we have had a chance to get behind the wheel, we can finally say with confidence that the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X may simply be the ultimate jack-of-all-trades off-road pickup.
The 2022 Sierra 1500 AT4X is the next evolution of the AT4 story, and the newest apex off-roader in the GMC stable. The all-new 2022 Sierra AT4X, along with the rest of GMCs refreshed Sierra models, is rolling out to dealers today.
The 2022 model year is the Year of Refresh for GMC Land, so all Sierra pickups are updated with new-designed grilles, front fascias, and headlamps, along with revised interiors across most trim levels. The Sierra AT4X arrived simultaneously with a mid-cycle truck refresh, as did the luxury-oriented Sierra Denali Ultimate trim.
The brand-new Sierra AT4X model is designed to blend features and elegance from the luxury, high-riding pick-up with the best elements of the ultimate off-roading capabilities. General Motors is trying to walk the line between the two truck categories with the new GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X, a luxurious truck that is also a capable 4×4 off-roader.
Very few midsize pickup trucks come close to matching the Sierra AT4X, making it the Denali of off-road trucks, in terms of performance as well as luxury.
Most current full-size pickup trucks are equipped with plenty of off-road features, like skid plates, two-speed transmissions, and all-terrain tires, but the Sierra AT4X includes several features that set it head and shoulders above all other half-ton trucks.
As an X-tra version of the Sierra AT4, the Denali Ultimate has some trim-specific mechanical bits that enhance its off-road capabilities.
It is a “one-size-fits-most” approach to AT4X, whereas buyers can choose to configure a standard-size box with a Duramax turbodiesel in a Sierra AT4. Like the Denali Ultimate, the AT4X comes standard with the most powerful engine available in the GMC Sierra.
The Sierra 1500 can come with either a 2.7-liter four-cylinder, a 5.3-liter V8, or a 3.0-liter diesel I6, but the GMC Sierra AT4X in 2022 gets the 6.2-liter V8 connected to a 10-speed automatic.
Available with a crew cab and only a 70-inch short bed, the 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X is designed to serve those wanting more power than the Sierra AT4, but wanting more luxuries than the AT4Xs sibling, the Chevy Silverado ZR2. The choice between GMC Sierra AT4 vs. Truck can prove to be a difficult one for those who are not as versed in the off-road pickup truck world. GMC says that closer to the time it launches at the end of next year, GMC will reveal the AT4X AEV Editions price.
The AT4X AEV Edition is coming out late next year, and GMC says that beefy bolt-ons will ultimately become standard equipment in every 2023 AT4X. The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X will receive the AEV treatment, including custom steel bumpers and tougher skid plates. When GMC pulled the covers off of the new-for-2022 Sierra 1500 AT4X, it was touted as the most capable GMC model yet on the off-road.
