Ford F-150 Raptor And Raptor R:

The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is the normal Ford F-150 Raptor, but it has the engine from a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. The Ford F150 Raptor R is a 700-hp truck monster that is poised to take on the RAM 1500 TRX. The 2023 F-150 Raptor R is set to face off with the 702-hp Ram 1500 TRX for factory monster truck bragging rights, and Wiedmann is not worried about that two extra horses.

The new Ford F-150 Raptor trucks will feature the same 450-hp, turbocharged, 3.5-liter V6 as the last in the line. Like Raptors, the Ford Bronco, and upcoming Raptor Ford Ranger, the F150 Raptor R from Ford will utilize a 10-speed automatic transmission and will come equipped with four-wheel drive. The F-150 Raptors and the Bronco Raptors both feature twin-turbo V6 engines under the hood.

Bolted onto that monster V8 (which we will get into in a second) is a 10-speed automatic, a10R80, similar to that found on EcoBoost V6 trucks. All this works together to put 700 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque down through that 10-speed automatic. This high-output engine makes as much as 450 horsepower and best-in-class 510-lb-ft torque.

It is all about this motor, which only adds about 100 pounds to its similarly equipped V6 brethren. The 5.2-liter is an upgrade from the motor found in the Mustang Shelby GT500, but upgraded for the duties of an off-roader. Behold, the Predator Engine, the 700-horsepower, 760-horsepower, supercharged V8 beast that is also found in the 760-horsepower Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.

How much Special and Different is 2023 Tesla Cybertruck Safety Technology ?

It comes courtesy of a supercharged 5.2-liter V8, a lightly modified version of that found under the hood of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, for massive horsepower and torque. Ford has tuned the excellent Ford Multicontour seats to give it better off-road chops than on-road-going GT500s. Regardless of the powertrain, each Raptor rides on a new, more complex suspension, which now includes larger, internally-bypassed shocks and a rear five-link coil-spring configuration replacing the previous leaf springs.

Ford designed the Raptor with a unique five-link rear suspension system, which helps put more power to the road, improves acceleration times and comfort on the road, and inspires greater driver confidence. Unlike the F-150s 5-link rear suspension, the 5th Generation Ranger has Watts-link rearend, allowing for greater control over rugged terrain and higher speeds. With 14 inches of front tire travel and 15 inches of rear, suspension travel gets a bump up from F-150 Raptor — and so does just about every facet of a new F-150, including No.

Along with a new rear set-up, the Raptor gets Foxs latest internal-bypass Fox Live Valve shocks, providing up to 1,000 pounds of damping at each corner. Both trucks are equipped with Fox internal-bypass dampers, heavy duty suspension components, and plenty of travel in the suspensions struts for damping large impacts and – yes – jumps, too. The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor also gets a revised rear suspension, with a new five-link coil-spring configuration replacing the leaf springs from the previous model, along with larger, internally-bypass shocks.

The second-generation model of the Raptor packs in all of the 2021 Ford F-150s goodies, with Raptors-specific upgrades such as 37-inch tires available, a unique chassis, improved Fox Live Valve shocks, a new exhaust with an active exhaust valve, and five-link rear suspension.

The Ford F-150 is Americas top-selling truck, and a literal cash cow for Ford, so it is no surprise to see the automaker rolling out numerous special editions and performance versions. If there is one automotive industry that is seemingly on the rise, it is sport trucks, where companies such as Ford and the RAM 1500 TRX are offering high-horsepower beasts with snazzy styling that makes negotiating a trail or negotiating a parking lot look easy, as well as a whole lot more fun.

Ford : Can The F-150 Lightning Be Charged While Driving?

High-performance was the undisputed apex predator in the stock truck world…until Ram launched the 1500 TRX. There are whispers about a 2022 Ford Raptor R, the Raptors V-8 variant, poised to take on the Ram TRX. That is why Ford is developing a fiercer Raptor R, which is expected to herald the return of a throaty V-8 that earned it a spot in the 700-hp club.

At the time the Ranger Raptor debuted, the Ranger Raptor was the most powerful Ranger yet, packing a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 making 392 horsepower–a massive improvement from the 270-horsepower mid-size EcoBoost 4-cylinder. While Raptors generally played second fiddle to RAM 1500 TRXs top-end horsepower numbers, Fords F150 Raptor R received a major upgrade under the hood, giving the truck 700 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque.

Adding its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 slaps another $30,000 (or nearly one-second) onto the price tag. The $30 is a large leap, even when you compare it with the Ram 1500 TRX, which starts at a little north of $80,000.

Fords V8 Raptor ran through 2014, then took a brief pause, returning in 2017 a better truck almost everywhere else, but its turbocharged V6 exhaust note leaves something to be desired. The transmission, too, has been in place for more than five years, having had to handle the burdens of a 3.0-liter diesel previously offered on Fords quarter-ton trucks.

In fact, when I asked Fords head of engineering to highlight any other changes made to the chassis from a conventional Ford F-150 Raptor, Beeler showed me the front axle housings (which, as a point of reference, features…a stronger, higher-strength carrier casting, as well as an aluminum-ribbed structural covering, in order to handle the added torque of the transmission, according to Ford). The harmonic balancer is different from that of a Mustang Shelby GT500 mill, and so is the blower pulley.
