2023 F-150 Raptor R a V6 Or V8

Well, the folks over at Ford apparently heard the fans, and they are officially bringing its growling 6.2-liter V8 back, reintroduced in the 2023 F-150 Raptor R. According to the Ford Authority, Fords F-150 Raptor — which is powered by the 3.5-liter V6 — will be getting the V8 engine, which will put it higher up on the totem pole.

That would make Ford F-150 Raptor R a decent rival to Ram 1500 TRX, powered by 702 horsepower Supercharged V8 borrowed from Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat muscle car, making it the strongest internal combustion pickup. The Ram 1500 TRX.

The Raptors high-output twin-turbo V-6 makes 450 horsepower, still relatively sluggish when compared with the 702-hp Hellcat V-8 found in the Ram 1500 TRX. The EcoBoost V6 lives on under the hood, and it is purported to have at least 450 horsepower, although with the Ram TRX and its Hellcat V8 walking tall, Fords boost in horsepower seems not only logical, but essential.

To match the Ram 1500 TRX, the 2022 Ford Raptor is going to get a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 used in the Ford Mustang GT500, to put down anywhere between 750 to 770 horsepower.

Currently, the 2022 Ford Raptor has the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 under the hood, which pumps out 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. Ford revealed the second-generation Raptor exclusively for the 2017 model year, featuring the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6. The new Raptor has an exclusive high-output EcoBoost V6 that makes 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque.

Ford has also equipped the 2017 Raptor with a 10-speed fast-shifting automatic transmission that keeps the EcoBoost V-6s twin turbos firmly planted in their powerband, and thanks to the aluminum design, the new model is about 500 pounds lighter than the last-generation model from 2014.

Underneath a new 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor bonnet that now features an attractive radiator vent, is a familiar, higher-output version of the Raptors potent twin-turbo V-6. Ford Motor Company introduced its third-generation F-150 Raptor in February 2021; the new base model keeps the same 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine from its predecessor.

Ford plans to match its predecessors equally potent engine in the next-generation Raptor R. There are some rumors that the next-generation Raptor R may carry over Shelby GT500s 760-hp version of its supercharged V-8.

The Raptors Predator V8 produced 760 horsepower for the Shelby GT500 Mustang, and if Ford is going to compete against the Ram TRX, then it is going to need that kind of power injection for its next-generation F-150 Raptor.

Ram threw its gauntlet in front of Fords feet with the new 1500 TRX, a 702-horsepower brute that unseats the stupidly potent F-150 Raptor desert-running pickup.
