Khamzat Chimaev’s decision to take on newly crowned UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira impressed Paulo Costa.
Pereira was dubbed “easy money” by Chimaev after his fifth-round TKO of Israel Adesanya at UFC 281 earlier this month. Chimaev predicted that Pereira would defeat the new champion in one [round].
After witnessing Pereira’s difficulties with Adesanya on the ground, the unbeaten prospect wasted no time in trying to book a fight for UFC 282 or UFC 283.According to former title contender “Borrahchina,” that was a wise move on the part of the athlete from the Allstars Training Center.
Costa added. he is smart, my brother. Given that Alex lacks grappling skills, I believe he would present a significant challenge to Alex in a fight. You know how much kickboxing differs from MMA. But if that fight does take place, I believe the odds are against Alex.
However, I don’t believe they will go, and I don’t believe a fight will take place. I want to wrestle him.It is unlikely that “Borz” will actually get the next chance to fight Pereira given that UFC president Dana White and co. are putting the finishing touches on a potential matchup between Chimaev and Colby Covington.
Adesanya, who is focused on a rematch, appears to have a greater chance of securing that opportunity.Costa believed Adesanya held her own against Pereira in their first encounter up until the fifth and final round. Despite this, “Borrachinha” is unsure of how the rematch will pan out.
Adesanya did a great job of avoiding Alex for almost five rounds, but he was unable to do so all the way through.Keep your distance until the very end, you know. So he was apprehended. No predictions from me for a potential rematch.
