Are Dodge Ram Trucks Easy To Steal?
Police said new-model Dodge Rams and Ford F150 trucks were the most targeted for thefts this year in Guelph and surrounding areas.
This is not the first time thieves have stolen newer Dodge and Ram vehicles with V8 engines from areas of the Detroit area.
This is the second consecutive year in which Fords F-150 has been the most commonly stolen car, with a massive uptick in trucks stolen.
In these cases, the thieves used a relay technique and reverse programming to enter the interiors of
three Dodge Ram pickup trucks and programmed the keys fobs with blanks, according to police.
Once inside a targeted vehicle, thieves could pop the hood and gain access to a vehicles electronics wiring.
reprograming the ignition systems to operate using another key or fob, which would enable them to drive off.
As mentioned earlier, high-tech thieves gain access to its electric systems in order to reprogram new keys.
Once programmed, the thieves are then able to unlock the doors, start the car, and leave just like they had your keys.
