Can the Tesla Model X Compete With BMW’s and Mercedes’ SUVs?

Tesla's Model X still has a lot going for it despite the new Model Y partially taking the focus.

However, EV acceleration isn't enough to convince every buyer of a premium SUV.

And two of the most alluring SUVs come from BMW and Mercedes for anyone willing to spend six figures on one.

However, Watson was able to purchase the Tesla Model X and BMW X7 in the US.

Watson operated the M Performance model of the BMW X7 M50i.

Its 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 produces 530 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque.

The Tesla Model also came in a Long Range dual-motor version with 470 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque.

The GLS was lacking in power, but it had plenty of features.

They're all three all-wheel drives. The GLS is a 7-seat SUV, just like the Tesla Model X.

Additionally, according to Car and Driver, the GLS has standard air suspension, just as the BMW X7.

However, the GLS also provides active body control, which anticipates upcoming bumps by using a forward-facing camera.
