Do All 2022 Teslas Have Lfp Batteries?

Tesla said back in October that the LFP cells will make their way into all of its standard-range vehicles around the world,

with Tesla just starting production on its new Model 3, with a rear-wheel-drive system, in 2022.

Now, Tesla says that it plans to move production of LFP batteries back to the same place .

where its vehicles are made, and switch to LFP batteries for all its Model Y and Model 3 standard-range vehicles.

Tesla has made big deals around switching its standard-range models to batteries made from Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cells,

citing their numerous advantages, such as better materials availability and lower costs.

Tesla is switching the battery chemistry used in all its standard-range EVs to one that has a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode,

the automaker said in its third-quarter investors deck on Wednesday.

Elon Musk said that the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles that have the iron-phosphate LFP battery pack are safe to charge up to 100%,

and that, in fact, it is even recommended for better range estimates.

Tesla, along with other carmakers such as Chinese company BYD, has been turning to American battery technology since the 1990s.
