How Big Will The Tesla Semi Battery Be?

In 2017, a number of analysts and other experts concluded that a Tesla Semi truck will require battery packs

between 600 and 1000 kilowatt-hours in order to manufacture variants of the truck with ranges of 300 miles and 500 miles.

During the launch event, Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed that the first Tesla Semi EV was designed to achieve 500 miles range on a fully loaded trailer,

meaning that the battery pack inside the truck was going to need to be absolutely gigantic.

According to Tesla Chief Elon Musk, the new battery-powered truck has 500 miles (about 800 kilometers) of range per charge

while pulling a 82,000-pound (37,000-kilo) load.

Teslas chief executive Elon Musk, however, wrote on Twitter that battery efficiency for the Semi is 1.7 kWh per mile.

Tesla says Teslas EV trucks will use under 2kWh per mile; actual battery capacities were never released, but we know that

there will be one version that has 300 miles of range, and one with 500 miles.
