Even more so than CEO Elon Musks Twitter  feed, the thing that is getting most of the attention for Tesla is its constantly evolving driver assistance technologies,

Tesla Motors has been upgrading its semi-autonomous system, adding features with successive system updates, but Autopilot remains controversial.

For Tesla Motors, the company maintains that using Autopilot lowers the risk that the Tesla driver will be involved in a crash.

These terms are thrown around often by Musk and Musk fans, particularly in regards to claims Tesla vehicles could be self-driving using its AutoPilot system.

According to regulatory filings, it has been found that Tesla vehicles disable their Autopilot software about a second before they hit an obstacle.

As the autonomous driving features in Autopilot will develop over time,

Tesla says that your car can continuously be upgraded with new versions of Autopilot via an  over-the-air software update.
