How Heavy Is A Tesla
Semi Truck?
As we patiently await the Tesla Semis maiden delivery to begin December 1, Elon Musk confirmed via Twitter
that the electric truck completed a 500-mile (805-kilometer) journey, carrying an aggregate
load of 81,000 pounds (36.7 tons).
According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the new battery-powered truck has a range per charge of 500 miles
(about 800 kilometers) when hauling a total load of 82,000 pounds (37,000 kg).
Tesla Inc. (TSLA.O) said it has completed 500 miles of driving on one charge,
and that the companys first Heavy-Duty Semi and its load weighed in at a combined 81,000 pounds.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said before that the Tesla Semi will have no such problem,
since he expects in a worst-case scenario, Tesla Semi will need to yield less than a ton compared with diesel trucks,
Tesla owner and YouTuber GeauxTesla has speculated that a truck with 500 miles of
range will be heavier,
weighing in at 5,000 pounds more than one with 300 miles of range, and believes this is
why they are testing it at 75,000 pounds, just shy of the 80,000-pound limit.
