How Much Does It Cost To Fill Up A Semi Truck With Gasoline?

The easiest way to see fuel costs is simply by looking at the per-gallon price each time we fill our tanks.

As of Thursday, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the United States was $4,236 according to AAA,

and diesel averaged $5,053 a gallon. Drivers must carry large amounts of fuel,

as the average miles per gallon (mpg) of a semi truck is just 5.6 miles per gallon.

Semi trucks can travel approximately 2,100 miles on one single tank of diesel (usually not gasoline),

assuming tanks are 300 gallons in total, and an average fuel economy of 7 miles per gallon.

If you had a truck with a 50-gallon tank of gas, and gas was $4 per gallon on average,

you would spend $200 filling up that tank before turning those keys. While the truck is directly affected by

the trucks MPG, price-per-mile is significantly affected by factors like speed and cargo.
