The commercial version of the Tesla Semi, a Class 8 truck with an 80,000-pound payload
will be available in versions with a 300-mile range and a 500-mile range
priced at $150,000 and $180,000, respectively, when it is introduced in 2017.
Tesla asserts that its completely electric Semi trucks will save more than $200,000 USD in fuel costs
and have ranges of 300–500 miles, using less than 2 kW/mile of energy.
Using less than 1.25kWh/km of energy, Tesla's Semi is also able to travel up to 800 kilometers (as claimed by a successful test drive) on a single charge.
500 miles may be covered by a fully loaded Tesla truck traveling at 60 mph.
Elon Musk tried to allay worries and/or rumors during Tesla's third quarter earnings call for 2022
that the company might not be able to achieve its desired 500-mile range
because to the bigger batteries used by Tesla Semi.
